Project Five, an initiative of aMBUSH Gallery, is a highly successfully and award-winning public arts activation that features a month-long exhibition, live art event, children’s art workshops and a charity auction.
Now in its eighth Volume, Project Five is presented in partnership with Darling Quarter, Sydney’s most actively evolving creative precinct, which has been home to Project Five since 2013. In that same year, Project Five became an associated event of the City of Sydney’s annual art festival, Art & About, and was featured as one of Art & About 2013’s Top 10 events. In 2016, with the launch of Project Five Volume 8, that relationship with the City of Sydney and Art & About continues.
Project Five Volume 8 features the visual stories of Brett Chan, Georgia Hill, Kaff-eine, and Shida.
Since its 2009 inception, Project Five has activated three major precincts across Sydney – Cockle Bay Wharf, The Rocks and now Darling Quarter – launched eight Volumes, raised over $100,000 for Australian not-for-profit arts initiatives, and commissioned 32 urban contemporary artists. Project Five received the Australia Council National Australian Business Arts Foundation Award in the category of Young and Emerging Artists in 2011.
In 2016, Project Five Volume 8 continues to represent the forefront of Australian art trends as it branches outside the limits of conventional graffiti and street artists in step with the art world’s continuing redefinition of the limits of urban contemporary art.
